We’re Back! August Roller Skating Bootcamp
All levels from beginners to experienced skaters welcome!
The coaches and skaters of Strong Island want to share our love for Roller Skating and Roller Derby with our community. We are opening our rink up to anyone over the age of 18 who would like a free roller skating Boot Camp. Once we light the skating spark, we are hoping that some of you will decide to continue the journey and become part of our family as a roller derby player, referee, or NSO (non-skating official). There is no obligation to join, but we are pretty confident you’ll want to!
No experience is necessary. Our coaching committee will take you through basic skating skills including stopping, striding, crossovers, falling safely, and so much more.
If you’ve ever thought about skating, used to skate, or are looking for a new obsession, this boot camp is for you.
Please join us on Sunday, August 29th from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at Rapid Fire Arena in Moriches.
To participate as a skater or referee, you will need the following gear:
-Quad roller skates (referees may wear roller blades, skaters MUST have quad skates)
-Elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards
We have a limited supply of loaner gear available. All requests for loaner gear must be received at least 7 days prior to Boot Camp. We will do our best to accommodate all requests, but we cannot guarantee we will have your exact size.
Note, you must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
*Consistent with CDC guidelines individuals that participate in the boot camp that have not been vaccinated are required to wear a mask. It is also recommended that those that have been vaccinated also wear a mask. That being the case, the decision to wear a mask is up to the individual. There will not be any intentional contact during boot camp, and coaches will be mindful of social distancing.
